About the Job.
Disability Living Inc. (DLi) was established in 1984 to provide long-term accommodation and support for young adults. We have provided supported accommodation for people with disabilities in South Australia for more than 25 years. In 2010, the organization began providing respite and transitional accommodation support, and in 2013, began providing support to children.
We believe in the inherent right of people with disabilities to have choice and control over their lives and support their right to be active citizens enabling them to participate fully in the community.
You will be part of a highly motivated and passionate Client Services Team. You will be actively making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities by encouraging individuals to build confidence, social skills, awareness, and skill development through engagement in DLi’s range of programmes.
You will bring a person-centered approach, placing the person at the center of their service. You will work collaboratively, tailoring your approach to the needs of the individual. You will quickly establish rapport with clients and their families and have clear and effective communication skills. You will have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in case notes and record-keeping. Experience in mental health and positive behavior management would be an added advantage. You will be comfortable supporting adult clients with intellectual/physical disabilities, high medical needs, mental health diagnoses and or complex behaviour concerns
Requirements;
- Certificate III in Disability, Individual support or equivalent (Desirable)
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Nursing, Disability, or Developmental Education.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening or willing to obtain
- Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain
- Mandatory Training.
- First Aid and CPR.
- Manual Handling certificate.
- CPI Safety Intervention training.
- Epilepsy and Midazolam training.
- Medication Administration Certificate, Basic Continence Care, and Infection Control Certificate will be highly preferred.
- Evidence of right to work in Australia.
- A full Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Ability and willingness to drive and use pool vehicle or own vehicle.
