About the Job.
This is a permanent position.
Our client is a lovely gentleman with a C4 Spinal Injury following an accident leading to a lack of sensation or movement from the waist down. He lives at home with his family in the Sholing, Southampton area.
His current condition means he is at high risk of experiencing Autonomic Dysreflexia. Your role will be to help him meet his medical, personal care, and day-to-day assistance needs. You will work alone and as part of a team, operating on shifts to provide 24/7 care.

Key responsibilities;
- Support with all aspects of daily living.
- Personal Care including Bowel management.
- Medication.
- Commit to keeping thorough records.
- Ability to work alone and with the other members of the team positively and constructively.
- Following a clear and detailed Care Plan.
Requirements;
- MUST have worked as a carer previously in the UK (Preferably at least 6 months experience).
- Flexible to work days & occasional nights at least.
- Due to client/family preference, this role is open to Female Support Workers only.
- Complex care and spinal injury experience. Bowel management and AD experience are also essential.
- Experience supporting with mood & anxiety would be beneficial for this role.
- Driving license (not essential).
- Have an encouraging nature to support this Individual emotionally & psychologically.
- Potentially administer medication and Ideally hold an NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care or a related topic, or be willing to study towards this.
- Have a pure zest for life & a caring can-do attitude.
