Job Title: Support Worker

Location: Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand

We are now seeking like minded individuals whom are also passionate about delivering the best care possible to join one of our Traumatic Brain Injury teams supporting a free-spirited gentleman with a wicked sense of humour based in Rotorua. As part of his 24/7 care team, you will help ensure he is getting the most of life, supporting him in his many activities including, going to the gym, outings with his dog and support with personal and social errands.

Additional support is required with personal care, such as daily showering and dressing, assistance with transfers, cooking/meal preparation (You must be able to make a salad, prepare a shake, and make a good egg on toast, i.e good kiwi meals).

Due to the nature of the injury, there may also be behavioural challenges, so your ability to re-direct, de-escalate and be resilient will be key to your success in this role. Utilising a communications board (full-training will be given), we are looking for someone who can quickly decipher text language and has excellent English languages skills.

Ideally, We Are Looking For Staff That Have

  • Good Sense of Humour
  • Very good communication skills and excellent command of the English language
  • Ideally Traumatic Brain Injury or Mental Health experience
  • Relevant Healthcare/Homecare related Qualifications (or willing to work towards)
  • Full Clean Drivers Licence and reliable car
  • Able to maintain personal boundaries and maintain privacy & confidentiality
  • Good listening skills, Flexible, team player, Resilient, enthusiastic, outgoing personality
  • Good basic cooking skills
