Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is seeking a dynamic, energetic employee with outstanding communication skills and a passion for member service! Our ideal candidate will focus on providing exceptional member experience in all member touch-points, in-person, phone interactions and digital communications. Employee will be responsible for providing timely, accurate service to all members and co-workers.

Performs operational support functions to enhance efficient deposit account servicing and effective service to members. Specifically responsible for most aspects of Deposit Operations which include but are not limited to in-office tasks, electronic funds transfers, ACH, and checking services.

Position Description

  • Analyzes data collected from various reports and determines appropriate necessary actions to perform essential, defined and time-sensitive duties and responsibilities for all ACH functions. These include processing Federal Reserve ACH files/batches and ACH returns, International ACH Transactions (IATs), late returns, Notifications of Change (NOCs), Reclamations, disputes, Death Notification Entries (DNEs), and daily exceptions.
  • Assists with other ACH functions including origination, and error resolutions.
  • Processes check and ACH errors and exceptions.
  • Researches and resolves rejections , stop payment requests, disputes, and inquiries timely and efficiently. Analyzes and resolves account discrepancies such as posting, encoding errors, and cross-reference issues. Attempts to contact members if necessary for resolution.
  • Balances and reconciles assigned General Ledger accounts.
  • Reviews Mobile Check Deposit exceptions.
  • Corresponds with members and staff to resolve any Mobile Check Deposits, ACH, Checking and Shared Branching.
  • Processes returned deposited items.
  • Researches and resolves moderately complex operational, branch, and member issues and ensures that errors and discrepancies are resolved and appropriate follow-up is completed.
  • Reviews TCM reports and researches suspect duplicate check deposits.
  • Processes term certificate renewals and changes. Produces and forwards new certificate notices of maturity and renewal to members.
  • Recommends changes or alternate ways in processing methods to allow improved operating efficiency and member service.
  • Supports other individuals or units performing similar functions as needed during absences or special projects.
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • A minimum of four years related banking, credit union, financial services operations and/or accounting experience required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Successful candidate will be a “team player” with flexibility to adapt if the needs of the department/Credit Union require an adjustment of routine activities.
  • IRA experience is desirable but not required, training is provided.
  • Previous accounting/customer service experience in a bank or credit union environment highly desired.
  • Analytical skills are required in order to access risks within specific job responsibilities including handling of confidential information
  • Daily work requires the ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and prioritize while processing extremely detail oriented and time sensitive functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • PC literate in Windows Excel, Word, and Adobe.
  • Comfort working in the diverse and multicultural environment of Harvard University.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations is preferred.
  • Mature and professional communication and customer services skills necessary to write high quality business letters and emails independently.
  • Understanding of payment functions and products preferred. AAP or NCP certification is a plus.

Working Conditions

Interviews for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus.

Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is an on-campus community, and all positions are based in Boston and Cambridge.

The majority of jobs at HUECU are hybrid remote/office. During the initial 90-day training period, new employees may be expected to work in the office more frequently, up to full-time. When appropriate, remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered (CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Additional details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
