Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors, and reports on the client’s status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care, and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

EQuaL (Enabling Quality of Life) – for adults aged 18 to 64 who have disabilities related to a disease or condition, such as multiple sclerosis or a brain injury, currently requiring the full-time support of a continuing care center.
Requirements;
- Graduation from Grade 12 is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
- The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required.
- Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring, and repositioning of clients.
- Active and current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory is required.
- Related experience in a healthcare facility is an asset. Program-specific training/experience is an asset.
