About the role
The Centre for Audio, Acoustics and Vibration is recruiting for a Research Associate, Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow to play a key role in academic activities related to different projects including ARC funded and industry research, as well as general activities associated with the Biogenic dynamics group at UTS within the Centre for Audio, Acoustics and Vibration (CAAV). You will be responsible for assisting group activities, support in teaching and research training into Mechatronics and Vibroacoustics (sensing, actuation) of students relating to vibration signals and data recorded from various sources (technical and natural) with strong to weak signal-to-noise ratios using single and multiple sensor arrangements. The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Tech Lab in Botany and will report directly to Associate Professor, Dr Sebastian Oberst. The Centre for Audio, Acoustics and Vibration (CAAV) is a new research centre devoted to applied research in audio, acoustics and vibration. CAAV will host brand new state-of-the art experimental facilities, and aims to develop national and international partnerships with universities and industry. About you As a Research Associate / Fellow, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. To be successful in this role you will take responsibility for initiating and delivering research in relation to the research project activities, using your strong research and analytical skills. Other requirements include:
- PhD in (Computational) Physics, Applied Mathematics or Electrical Engineering/Computer Science with an interest in mathematical physics & signal processing, time series, and feature extraction.
- Proven publication track record in nonlinear dynamics, nonlinear time series analysis, signal processing on complex experimental data
- Proven experience in running measurement campaigns and data handling (cleaning, analysis)
- Experience working directly with industry and industry related projects
- Desired experience in programming field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) or microcontrollers
- Desired experience in C and Python programming, knowledge of JULIA language
Base Salary Range: $88,273 to $107,511 (Level A)/ $117,420 to $138,973 pa (Level B) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and appointment will be 3 year fixed term basis.
